Welcome (back) to the Blog: 4 Years Later

Hi guys! Happy blogaversary. It's been a while I know, I haven't posted since February. A LOT has happened in my life since I began this blog exactly 4 years ago. I've also changed a lot as a person. So for this post, I'll be welcoming you all back to the blog, letting you know why I ghosted the blog, and welcoming myself back into posting here.  So Where'd You Go?  When I started this blog I was a freshman in high school, and I just finished my freshman year of college. And I'm graduating 2 years early next year. That should explain why I haven't been posting as much here, but if it doesn't, I have more.  I have been extraordinarily busy with a bunch of stuff inside and outside of school. Volunteering, trying to upkeep my mental and physical health, dealing with the transition of living in a new state for high school, and then living alone in a different section of the same state for college, all while essentially failing at socializing.  Definitely hav...

My Trip to Monterrey, Mexico!!!

This month, I took a 1 week trip to Monterrey, Mexico to visit family and explore the town. It was extremely hot and I ate so many tacos and burritos that I got tired of them, and if you know me in real life, you know that that's practically impossible.  This post will mainly be pictures because 1. my mom and I took many pictures and 2. I have a terrible memory, especially when it comes to trips.  I first need to talk about my aunt's ancient dog, Nacho.  Technically, he isn't ancient, but he is. He's 15 in human years, which means he's 76 in dog years, according to  this  calculator.  The first thing we did after taking a full day of rest (which consisted of 2 long naps for me) was go to the  Tres Museos . We only got to go to 2 of the 3 museums, which kinda sucks, but we still had an amazing time.  I love this top so much I'd wear it to the grocery store.  These 2 pictures are of clothes from the colonial era of Mexico (I think)....

I DID AN INTERNSHIP AT FRED HUTCH!!!!!!!!

Ok, I have a word limit for this so I'll just give you guys a bit of background info on what this is then I'll get into the post because this post is actually an assignment for the internship.  1.  This  is Fred Hutch  2.  This  is the internship I did  So I  have a few favorite things from this internship, ranging from the scenery to the labs. (Mostly the labs) But the thing I loved the most, were the tours. Seeing the labs and meeting people who work there and what they do is fantastic.  This is from the first tour, a picture of the view from the sky bridge. Yes, a skybridge!  Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of labs when we did tours, but I did get pictures from the labs that we did.  This is from a PCR lab. PCR stands for polymerase chain reaction. It essentially makes a bunch of copies for a specific gene. Copies are made by putting DNA into a thermocycler. Changes in temperature can change the bonds of the DNA, f...

Advice For Incoming Freshmen

Hello hello! Today I will share my friends and my best advice for incoming high school freshmen. Before we begin, please read my  disclaimer policy  and my  privacy policy .  Do not skip class. Ask yourself why you want to skip class. Is it really worth damaging your education? If it's because you hate the teacher/students there, talk to your counselor. If it's because someone is telling you to, don't do it and cut that person off. They do not have your best interests in mind.  Write down your class schedule and put it on your lock screen. You will totally get lost or be late on your first day, but I did not thanks to this. Get a map of your school and class schedule, write down how you get there, and add your lunchtime. Make sure you include room numbers.  Don't be embarrassed to ask for help. If you need help with getting places, homework, classwork, studying, etc. please ask for it. If you need help you need it, there's absolutely no shame in asking for ...

Froggy Water Bottle Holder

Hello! How are you? I hope you're doing well.  Today I'll share a crochet pattern for a froggy water bottle holder. I made this pattern for my HydroJug (not sponsored, but it'd be cool if it was), so you may need to adjust certain parts so that it can fit your water bottle. But, before we begin, please read my  disclaimer policy  and  privacy policy .  Materials: 5mm hook, weight 4 yarn in green (I used dark green), white, black (you can also use safety eyes that people use on amigurumi instead), yellow or light green yarn, 1 stitch marker, and scissors.  Bottom: make this the circumference of the widest part of your water bottle, use green yarn.  Row 1: magic circle, chain 1, 8 single crochet in magic circle, slip stitch into first single crochet, close magic circle, and insert stitch marker into last single crochet. (8)  Row 2: Increase in every stitch (2 sc in every stitch), move stitch marker. (16) Row 3: (sc, inc) 8 times, move stitch m...

Crochet Ear Band

Hello there! I’m Willow. How are you? I hope you’re well.  Before we begin, please read my  disclaimer policy  and my  privacy policy  .  Today I will share a pattern for a crochet ear band. Before we start, a few notes.  Notes : 1. Mine accidentally increased in size as I made it, so I highly suggest you count your stitches after every row to ensure that the size of your ear band doesn’t change. 2. If yours does end up increasing in size like mine, that’s ok! It just means that it can double as a visor, too!  Materials : since this pattern isn’t stitch-specific (meaning it doesn’t tell you to do a specific stitch number besides turning chains), you can use any yarn and hook you like. I used weight 3 yarn and a 3.0mm hook. You’ll also need something to weave your ends in, so either a tapestry needle, or you can just use your hook if you like, and some scissors   Row 1 : make a chain long enough to fit snugly around your (or whoever the ...
